A team of young creatives that have established a unique student-led design studio focused on collaboration and learning.
Role: Designer
Our group’s client was our own studio name and branding. We needed to not only come up with the name for our design studio, but also create an identity and promotional material. Creating solutions that are grounded in fresh, forward-thinking perspectives, we strive to formulate connections that extend further than both Ball State University and the Muncie Community. We are communicators, intellectuals, and visual problem-solvers that embrace the diversity of ideas to create appealing, functional design. Studio 165+ is dedicated to committing one hundred and sixty-five minutes each week in studio, plus the additional dedication to ensuring quality results.

In this phase, the whole studio worked to create a name that would be long-lasting and would best represent what we do. As a student based design course this allowed students to get design agency experience while still in school. We met in class for a total of 165 minutes a week, then continued to work above and beyond for our clients. Which is how we arrived at the name Studio 165 Plus.
Learning how to name a brand or company brought many challenges. The biggest challenge was simply have so many opinions on what a name should be and learning how to navigate that. Then, learning about the research, copyrights and URL naming was something that had a learning curve as well.
Creating an identity was the next challenge. This was open to the whole studio. After many rounds and refinements, my concept was chosen to be the new identity for the studio. I then worked with another designer to modify the mark to what it is now.
The challenges in this phase were simply just creating a plethora of options. Then, we presented to the team and further refined until we got the best identity for the studio.
The last phase was building out all the assets and promotional material. This happened after I had graduated. They allowed my work to come to life. This identity is included in Logo Lounge Book 11.
